Fitness and some more of it.

A beautiful morning, I am helping a few people with their physicality- advising them to hang and run and do everything in ways that a wonderful park right next to their house allows us to.

My reverie of the beauty is disturbed by three teenagers who have jumped a wall just to use the make shift treadmill installed. i look at their fitness. The jogging track. The benches. The artificial treadmill. And the idea of exercise.

Its humorous and saddening at the same time to see humanity be a consumer to nearly everything- even the idea of fitness.

As an artist, i do not want to talk of world peace or freedom of expression or even equal rights for all the equality one can think of. There is a body all of us have and we take it for granted. We give authority to everyone else yo look at our body, while we focus on changing the effects of global warming and complaining of the joint pain.

Parh parh ilm te faazil hoya
Te kaday apnay aap nu parhya ee na

(You read to become
all knowledgeable
But you never read yourself)

Bhaj bhaj warna ay mandir maseeti
Te kaday mann apnay wich warya ee na

(You run to enter temples and mosques
But you never entered your own heart)

Larna ay roz shaitaan de naal
Te kadi nafs apnay naal larya ee na

(Everyday you fight Satan
But you never fight your own Ego)

Bulleh Shah asmaani ud-deya pharonda ay
Te jera ghar betha unoon pharya ee na

(Bulleh Shah you try grabbing that which is in the sky
But you never get hold of What sits inside you)

This couplet by Baba Bulleh Shah is all I can think of when i see people talk of the fad diets and supplements while they can't tell the difference between and aubergine and an eggplant.
