Money plays an important role in life.
Individuals are measured and respected by their bank balances and the capacity to earn. No matter how much we dislike the fact yet everything is moving around money. An artist is programmed with all the examples that the society has to offer about starvation, passion and the likes. This lands up creatives in the classic pull between the soul and the worldly.
Though I have had my fair share of miseries and frustrations as an artist, I still support the theory of suffering till an extent.
Rejections make you question how badly you want a certain thing along with checking your commitments towards life. The amount of artists that pass out every year from institutes plus the self learnt variety like me..... if we compare these figures with the ones who are successful and famous, is there not something wrong with the statistics? Why do a selected few only make it while the rest are forgotten?
Today when the art world is hyped with the sales and the kind of money an established artist makes, there are fresh graduates quoting any amount for their paintings. Slowly, the buyer is questioning on the parameters a painting can be judged and what would assure that the artist is worth it. Selling is slowly getting tougher. This again is refining the way to judge an artist, making it tougher for sales to materialize.
There is no fixed path for success..... dedication may get you there.
"Only those who dare to fail greatly
can ever achieve greatly."
-Robert Francis Kennedy.
