In an attempt to be normal, we all turn on a fanatic that’s like a small crack in a water tank. Slowly, drop by drop we add on to the water going out- the fissure increases and the tank gets empty. A religious fanatic adds on the knowledge of scriptures to his brain till every word becomes a command, similar is for sports professionals and artists. The desire becomes so great that it consumes any other thought except the goal. A person in deep meditation loses all his surroundings; the athlete forgets pain and discomfort and the artist his hunger.
Normal people have better things to do in life…. Planning their taxes and looking after families till they become martyrs slowly. It starts with parental pressures, a job and then the welfare of their offspring’s. Every other specie on earth leaves their kids after a certain age to meet their fate, it’s only humane to build a fort around and then complain of suffocation. The trend continues with every parent living with the idea that they are giving all that they couldn’t get. Drop by drop we lose ourselves. Drop by drop our souls leak away.
One day we wake up and wonder about the stranger that stares at us from the mirror.

A fanatic adds value to his account- an extra prayer, another round of exercise, one more painting or extra time with the guitar. It’s a recurring deposit of confidence and courage. Others slowly give away their confidence and courage to the bosses, customers, loans and fee for the kids and all. Both are the same souls and the same bodies but wear opposite attitudes.
I am looking at all the brands and labels, toying inside a shopping mall that has attitudes displayed in nice hangars. The only problem is that I have to choose a particular section and swear loyalty to it. This is not a Shoppers Stop where I can buy a pair of Jeans with ultra formal shirts and wear them both under the tag of style.
The materials are the same, cotton silk or whatever with or without a bit of Lycra. Every one has responsibilities to cater to. One school says that you build something that’s bigger than the problems and you focus all your energy to a quality within and get self centered. The other school simply tells you to make the best of what you have- an attempt to minimize the problems and try to cruise.
I am not trying to sing praises for a fanatic, all I am trying to say is that in the end we are all fanatics with respect to different things…. There is one category that chases even if there are huge things at stake, while the other gives the power to others to chase them.

The musician in me is reminded of a song from Nagesh Kukunoor’s latest film:

We are same same…… No Different!
